Friday: April 13th, 2018

  • Race bib pickup at Sports Basement Sunnyvale 4:00pm to 8:00pm (more details in the Bib Pickup section below).

Saturday: April 14th

  • 1:00pm: Festival opens  with live music, beer garden and food trucks.
  • 1:00pm:  Packet pickup begins
  • 3:00pm: Food Truck 5k Start
  • 4:15pm: Silicon Valley Kids Run
  • 7:30pm: Food Truck Music Festival and packet pickup ends

Sunday, April 15th

  • 6:30am – 7:45am: Gear Check open for 10k/Half Marathoners
  • 8:00am: 10k/Half Marathon Start
  • 8:00am – 1:00pm: Post-Race Festival Open
  • 10:00am: 10k/Half Marathon Awards Ceremony
  • 1:00pm: Post-Race Festival Ends

Silicon Valley Food Truck 5k Time Limit

1 hour, or 19 minutes per mile pace. This time limit begins with start of the race. Runners who are unable to maintain a 19 minute per mile pace may be turned around early or redirected to the adjacent sidewalk. Aid stations, official finish times, finisher medals and post-race food/water are only available to those who maintain a 1 hour finish pace or below.

The average temperature in San Jose during mid-April is 50° – 65° F with 0% humidity.

Can’t make it out for race day, but still want to participate? Not a problem, sign up as a remote runner. For the same price, you will be mailed the short sleeve and inaugural Silicon Valley 5k Medal the week after the race.

Bib Pickup

Packet pickup times are below. A copy of your race confirmation or a photo ID is required for bib pickup. If you choose to have someone pick it up for you, a Packet Pickup Affiliate Form must be filled out and provided to the person picking up. Plus, a valid ID also must be presented in order to receive a beer garden bracelet.

  • Saturday, April 14th, 2018 — Arena Green East from 2:30pm to 7:30pm (In conjunction with the Food Truck Music Festival)

Start Location: Arena Green East (W St John St)

The start will be on W. St. John St Our post-race celebration will take place throughout Arena Green East.

Finish Location: Arena Green East (W St John St)

The finish will be on Autumn St between W. St. John St and W Santa Clara St. Our post-race celebration will take place throughout Arena Green East.  We will share more details on this as the planning continues.

Course Description

5k Course:

The Silicon Valley Food Truck 5k will have a shared start/finish line on W. St John St (W Santa Clara St. closest cross street). The route will head north across Julian St and do a big loop through Guadalupe River Park and Columbus Park before the finish back on W. St. John St.

Water Stations and Porto-Potties

There will be 1 water stations on course. It will be placed (roughly) at miles 1.5. Restrooms will also be available at each water station.

Medical Support

Medical support will be provided at the start line, along the entire course and at the finish line. An Advanced Life Support Ambulance will also be dispersed throughout the event.

Gear Check

There will be no gear check for the 5k (only for the 10k and half marathon on Sunday). Please make sure to leave your warmups, bags and valuables inside your car.

Elite & Sub-Elite Athlete Program

We are offering complimentary entries to men and women with personal bests of:

  • Men: Sub 15:30
  • Women: Sub 17:45

We are offering 60% off entries to men and women with personal bests of:

  • Men: Sub 16:30
  • Women: Sub 18:45

5k Awards

The awards ceremony begins at 10:00am at Arena Green East on the big stage. Top 3 awards are based on gun time, not bib tag time. Divisional awards will be based on bib tag time. Awards will go to the top 3 finishers of each division.

Age group awards are only available for the Half Marathon.

Changing Distances

Moving down in distance: If you would like to switch your registration to the 5k, you are allowed, but you will not be refunded the difference.

Moving up in distance: If you would like to switch your registration to the half marathon, you will be invoiced to pay the difference of the new distance registration price on the day you make the switch. Distance changes must be made prior to race day, either online or in person at a packet pickup.
